Dear community members, more than three decades ago, in 1988, the Romanian Orthodox Parish was established in Palm Springs, California, under the protection of the “Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel.” The Church boldly made its way into the local Orthodox community and has been present ever since in the lives of Romanian and American Orthodox Christians of Palm Springs and the surrounding area.
By the mercy of our God, we are excited to share the achievement of a significant milestone in the construction of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Palm Springs. We have recently placed the copper domes and crosses on our Church and will be celebrating the services of Holy Week and Pascha in our new building. Your support and dedication have been invaluable, and we are grateful for your continued enthusiasm. Please help us spread the word about this project through your social networks. Since 1988, a devoted group of Romanian Orthodox families has worked tirelessly to establish a permanent place of worship in Palm Springs. What began as a humble endeavor has blossomed into a cherished space that honors our traditions and beliefs. For over 30 years, this space has been a source of solace and inspiration for our congregation.
In 2018, the Parish Council embarked on a bold mission to build a new church that reflects the beauty of our religion and heritage. Despite various challenges, including rising costs and logistical hurdles, our dedicated team of architects and volunteers persevered. Today, we are proud to announce that the foundation of our new Church stands firm, a testament to our unwavering faith and determination.
We are very excited that the church shell and foundation are now in place and can be viewed when you attend Sunday services or online at www.bisericapalmsprings.com. We are now at a point where we have turned our attention to the interior of the Church, the installation of the Iconography, the pews, the windows, and the Iconostasis (the Holy Altar screen). A complete list of items and their cost is available on request.
We ask you, as Saint Paul instructed, to “bear one another’s burdens, and so [to] fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2) and show your brotherly love towards our request for help in a time of need. Please consider joining us in this momentous journey and laying a brick at this Church’s foundation by donating online, in person, or by mail.
